Final Project Work: Finally the Wyrm!

Last but far from least is the titular Wyrm. I originally started on this creature before the final major project but because of the scale of the task (pun not intended) that I continued on the theme as my FMP. I'll dig out some of my work in progress shots of the Wyrm and the other characters soon but for now let me introduce you to the great beastie! (click on the images for a larger view)


First, the Wyrm as it was at the beginning of the final major project, somewhat drab colour scheme and sporting part of a lionfish inspired crest. The colour was changed as part of the FMP as well as adapting the base so that Lord Lambton and The worm can be positioned together to form a diorama.

Here is the Wyrm as reworked for the FMP after being extended and given the scenic base. On reflection I would change the splashing water around the base to something more subtle and maybe thats something I will do but we'll have to wait and see.

Final Project Work Part 2: The Wise Woman

One of the problems I encountered with the story of the Lambton Wyrm was that there were relatively few characters so I had to make the most of the few significant players. Possibly my favourite sculpt from the project is the wise woman. I really wanted her to look ancient and weathered and I think I achieved that. I cant wait to get some paint on her as while I like the monochromatic look I think a lick of colour will really bring her to life. Without further ado herre she is:

Final Project Work: Lord Lambton

For my Final Major Project, I created a series of character busts and full body maquettes based on the characters and creatures from the legend of the Lambton Worm (in this case I use the archaic spelling Wyrm as it feels more appropriate). Despite evidence that the story is based around Sir John Lambton who lived during the 15th Century, I chose a more Anglo-Saxon/ Viking aesthetic for the project based on research into the background of the wyrm as a mythological creature. all the models were made with Super Sculpey around a Wire and aluminium foil armature. So let me present my take on the Lord Lambton :
